Dr. Ron Vexler completed his cardiac training at McGill University in Montreal and at L’Hopital Cardiologique in Lyon, France. He has been affiliated with the Queensway-Carleton Hospital for thirty-nine years and during that time has held senior positions such as Director of Intensive Care, Chief of the Department of Medicine, and Chief of Medical Staff.
Clinical areas of interest include diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease and prevention, heart failure, and cardiac arrhythmias. Dr. Vexler has been a clinical investigator in a number of important trials over the past two decades establishing the importance of blood pressure control as a means of reducing cardiovascular events.
Dr. Vexler has been extensively involved in the implementation of the Ontario Telehealth Network. This innovative technology allows physicians to assess and treat patients utilizing web-based applications. The QCH/Cardiology network includes consultations with patients in communities such as Pembroke, Deep River, and Barry’s Bay.
