Dr. S. Behnam Banihashemi, MD, FRCPC, FACC graduated from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine in 2007. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto in 2010 and his fellowship in Cardiology at the Ottawa Heart Institute in 2013. In addition he has a fellowship in Echocardiography, Trans-Esophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and Stress Echocardiography.
Dr. Banihashemi holds certification in Internal Medicine and Cardiology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is a fellow with the American College of Cardiology. He has specialized training in nuclear cardiology, carrying diplomat status with the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.
His professional interests in adult cardiology include risk assessment, diagnosis, and the management of chronic cardiac conditions including valvular disease, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease and heart failure. He has a special interest in non-invasive, multi-modality imaging with echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Banihashemi has active privileges at the Queensway Carleton Hospital where he provides inpatient Cardiology consultation services, in addition to management of patients in the Congestive Heart Failure clinic and the Acute Chest Pain clinic. His spoken languages include English and Farsi.
